Montessori Method

The Montessori Method of education is both a philosophy and a rationale for guiding a child’s growth. It is based on the child’s developmental needs for freedom within limits and a carefully prepared environment, which guarantees exposure to materials and experiences through which intelligence as well as physical and social abilities are developed.

The Montessori Method of Education recognises the following unique qualities of you children.

1) Children are to be respected as different from adults and as individuals who differ from each other

2)The child possesses unusual sensitivity and mental powers for absorbing and learning from his/her environment

3)The most important years of growth are the first 6 years of life when unconscious learning is gradually brought the conscious level.

4)The child has a deep need for purposeful work. He/she works not as an adult for profit and completion of a job but for:

  1. The sake of the activity, which accomplishes his/her most important goal.
  2. The development of his/her mental and physical powers.

The Montessori Materials

The concrete, self-correcting materials used in a Montessori environment provide multi-sensory experiences, through graded exercises (ensuring success), which enable a child to develop a keen sense of awareness of his/her environment and thus strengthen his/her ability to become a happy independent contributor within it.

The main philosophy behind the Montessori Method of Education is the every child is treated with respect, given freedom to develop within the carefully structured, supportive, stimulating and social environment, allowing the natural holistic development of everyone, each at his/her own individual pace.
